Oddfellows On The Park opens in Cheshire, UK
Berlin, April 20, 2017 – Set in over 100 acres of lush parkland in a spectacular Gothic Revival mansion, Oddfellows On The Park has its fair share of aristocratic aspirations. The 22-room Design Hotels™ member is born from a meticulous renovation of Bruntwood Hall, and appears at first glance to be the archetypal English manor house idyll surrounded by mature oak trees, ponds, and woodlands. And yet its location just 15 kilometers from the center of Manchester, meaning it's also a gateway to one of the UK’s most exciting arts and music scenes. Add to the mix The Galloping Major restaurant and the charmingly rustic Pigsty salon and you have a must-visit British bolthole. www.designhotels.com/oddfellows-on-the-park

In the restoration of Bruntwood Hall, Tim Groom Architects employed a “minimal intervention” approach to create Oddfellows On The Park. “The building is Gothic Revival and is in superb condition—it was always our intention to let the style show itself off,” Groom explains. Reflecting its 19th-century heritage, Victorian design features abound including a galleried staircase, Jacobian-style ceilings, and a stained-glass roof light. However, preservation of the past makes up just one part of Oddfellows’ visual identity, and Manchester-based design studio SpaceInvader were entrusted with creating an aesthetic that also captured the creative zeitgeist of the region. Thanks to dashes of loud color and quirky design, guests will find unexpected talking pieces at every turn, such as the Gothic-style chandelier made from bicycle chains in the reception area.

The 22 rooms and suites all offer views of the bucolic Bruntwood Park, and many boast original features, such as exposed beams, fireplaces, and architraves, the classical frames of doors and windows. The Park and Club Rooms feature luxurious beds you can sink into, as well as elegantly outfitted bathrooms and small seating areas. Located in the original master bedrooms of the Hall, the Playground Suites are defined by stylish contemporary four poster beds, perfectly located to take in the stunning views. However, it is the Bridle Suite—set in the Hall’s tower over two levels and comprised of a sitting room, bedroom, dressing area, and bathroom with a decadent double shower—that is the hotel’s pièce de résistance.

As befitting a hotel set in such stunning natural surroundings, Oddfellows offers a wealth of outdoor activities including archery, golf, and cycling. For those looking for a more epicurean take on the region, the hotel’s restaurant The Galloping Major serves locally sourced produce in the grand setting of the Hall’s former ballroom. While aperitifs come courtesy of The Stud Room, a sleek cocktail bar styled in a rich palette of greens that reflect the park outside, with feature geometric shelves that mirror the lines of the restored ceiling. The Pigsty salon offers two treatment rooms and a Rasul mud room for the ultimate pampering experience with luxury, organic skincare products from Ila. The salon’s chic lounge is perfectly placed for languid afternoons spent gossiping over a manicure—tipple in hand, of course

Location

Located in the vast grounds of Bruntwood Park, one of Greater Manchester’s largest green public spaces, Oddfellows On The Park is ideally located for country pursuits and outdoor activities. For those looking for a slice of city life, Manchester is just 15 kilometers away. Manchester Airport is 7km away | 15 minutes by car.
